A last-gasp penalty from Lucas Pantelis denied North Queensland Fury their first ever A-League victory after a 3-3 draw with Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium.
Robbie Fowler gave North Queensland the lead after just five minutes as he latched onto James Robinson's cross before producing a powerful low finish beyond goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic. Adelaide were back on level terms in the 23rd minute when Pantelis brought down Michael Marrone's cross with his left foot before shooting past Paul Henderson.
The hosts then took the lead 10 minutes later when Pantelis turned provider and Lloyd Owusu headed home the midfielder's cross. However, Fury looked to have snatched the points with a late double. Rostyn Griffiths and Ufuk Talay had both hit the woodwork for the visitors before substitute Dyron Daal pulled North Queensland level in the 83rd minute when a long ball found him in space on the edge of the box and he steered his finish beyond Galekovic.
They then took the lead three minutes from time when Fred Aguis' pass allowed Daniel McBreen to score from close range. The drama was not over, though, as Daal was penalised for handball and Pantelis tucked the penalty into the corner.
Elsewhere, Branko Jelic's double sealed a 2-1 victory for Perth Glory against Melbourne Victory. Jelic opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Naum Sekulovski's free-kick sparked a scramble in the Victory box and the striker was on hand to fire home.
Melbourne levelled four minutes later when Thompson converted Danny Allsop's cross at the second attempt after his initial effort had been blocked on the line by Sekulovski. Jelic netted what proved to be the winner nine minutes after the interval.
