Spartak Moscow are willing to pay Tottenham Hotspur £10 million to bring Roman Pavlyuchenko back to Russia.
The striker has been out of favour at White Hart Lane and fears losing his place in Guus Hiddink's 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ squad without regular football, with Roma and Zenit among the other clubs linked with 27-year-old.
"We need a good striker," said Spartak coach Valery Karpin. "It's a bit too much. If the price was £10 million we would seriously consider it."
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp also has Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch competing for places in attack, with Pavlyuchenko down in the pecking order.
If Pavlyuchenko does depart, Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy was among the targets Redknapp looked at over the summer who is still available, as Klaas Jan Huntelaar has moved to AC Milan.
Brazilian side Internacional claim to have rejected a £14 million offer from Tottenham for midfielder Sandro, who is valued at more than double that amount by his club.
But after watching the Russia international score in his side's 5-1 Carling Cup win at Doncaster, Redknapp revealed he had met with the player's advisors to discuss the situation and has no desire to see him leave north London.
"His people came down the training ground yesterday, they wanted to have a meeting with me to talk about him," Redknapp said. "He doesn't want to go and they don't want him to go. He's very happy.
"His only concern was missing out on the World Cup as he needs to play for Russia but it wasn't a case of him wanting to leave. He's got no issues with the club, he's very happy in London, happy at the club. I don't think anything's going to happen.
"I don't know what we paid for him, you wouldn't get him for £10 million anyway. The feedback I had yesterday from him and his people was that he didn't want to go so I don't see him going. I'd like to keep him."
Meanwhile, full-back Pascal Chimbonda is in talks with Blackburn Rovers about a move to Ewood Park, while Olympiacos have been linked with a move to take Giovani dos Santos on loan.
