Bochum staged a remarkable second-half fightback to claim a 3-3 draw at home to ten-man Borussia Monchengladbach in their Bundesliga opener.

Gladbach looked to be cruising at half-time after goals from Juan Arango, Roberto Colautti, and Roel Brouwers, but Mimoun Azaouagh scored twice in as many minutes early in the second half to get Bochum back into the contest.

The visitors were then reduced to ten men with the 60th-minute dismissal of Bonfim Dante, and Stanislav Sestak completed the comeback three minutes later.

Bechmann to the rescue
Europa League contenders Hamburg could only manage a 1-1 draw at Freiburg in their curtain-raiser.

Tommy Bechmann snatched a point for the home side with his 65th-minute effort after Jonathan Pitroipa had given Hamburg an early lead.
