Roda JC have suffered a blow ahead of the new season with the news that new signing Rihairo Meulens has a knee injury.

The 21-year-old, who joined from Vitesse Arnhem this summer, reportedly has a problem with his meniscus and will undergo an MRI scan later today to determine the seriousness of the injury.

Meulens will not feature in Roda's first game of the Eredivisie campaign, against Heerenveen on Friday.
