Bayern Munich general manager Uli Hoeness understands Franck Ribery's desire to quit the club for Real Madrid. He yesterday insisted the France midfielder would not be sold even if Bayern received an offer in excess of €70million.

Madrid are keen to make the 26-year-old wide player their fourth galactico signing of the summer following the arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. And Hoeness is sympathetic to Ribery's position.

I would like to see how our other players would react if they had such an offer from Real Madrid like Franck. Whether they then would all want to stay.

"I understand Franck completely," Hoeness told Thursday's issue of Stern magazine. "We are talking about sums that none of us can understand, and the bloke is only 26."

Ribery has been accused of not pulling his weight in training in a bid to engineer a move. "I would like to see how our other players would react if they had such an offer from Real Madrid like Franck," Hoeness added. "Whether they then would all want to stay."
