Loic Remy is set to remain at Nice for at least one more season, despite strong interest from Lyon. Les Gones sold the forward to Nice last summer for €8m but are interested in bringing him back to the Stade Gerland.

The two clubs have been in talks about the possible transfer of Remy, with Lyon left-winger Anthony Mounier included as a potential makeweight in any deal. However, with the Ligue 1 rivals differing in their valuations, Nice have opted to end talks.

"We have decided firstly to bring an end to discussions concerning Loic, who will stay with us at least for another year," said Nice president Maurice Cohen. "And secondly to give up on the idea of signing Anthony Mounier, who wished to join us and with whom we had reached an agreement."

Press reports claimed Lyon offered €10m plus Mounier for Remy, and that Nice wanted €6m more.

Lyon, who are close to clinching the signing of Porto striker Lisandro Lopez for an initial fee of €24m, are now expected to focus their attention on Toulouse forward Andre-Pierre Gignac.
