AZ have told Ajax their in-demand midfielder Demy de Zeeuw is not for sale.
The Alkmaar outfit's technical director Marcel Brands revealed the capital club had been in contact with them about the 26-year-old, who recently turned down a new contract at the Eredivisie champions.
New Ajax coach Martin Jol had tried to tempt De Zeeuw to Hamburg while he was in charge at the German club, and it looks as though his latest attempts to sign him will also be scuppered.
"The only thing that I want to report is that Ajax have indeed called us," Brands said. "But there is no agreement. We don't want to sell Demy."
