Gombak United fell further off the pace in the S-League today after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home by lowly Woodlands Wellington at Jurong West Stadium.
The contest burst into life just after the hour mark, when Agu Casmir opened the scoring for Gombak. Zakaria Yousif equalised for Woodlands on 77 minutes and despite the visitors having Luis Eduardo Hicks sent off six minutes later, Jamil Ali snatched his side all three points with two minutes remaining.
After suffering just a third defeat of the season, second-placed Gombak remain six points adrift of leaders and two-time defending champions Singapore Armed Forces, who beat Albirex Niigata 3-1 yesterday.
Elsewhere, Kengne Ludovick scored twice as Home United beat Young Lions 3-2 at Clementi Stadium.
Fairoz Hasan opened the scoring for Young Lions after just seven minutes, but after Ludovick equalsied six minutes later, Shi Jiayi's penalty on the stroke of half-time turned the game in favour of United.
Ludovick struck his 11th goal of the season six minutes before the hour mark to extend the lead, before Faritz Abdul Hameed struck a last-minute consolation for Young Lions.
