Corinthians won a third Copa do Brasil title after a 2-2 draw in Porto Alegre completed a 4-2 aggregate win over Internacional. The triumph earned O Timão a place in next year's Copa Libertadores.

Corinthians silenced the Beira-Rio crowd through Jorge Henrique's 20th-minute header and Andre Santos's strike, which sent them in at the interval 2-0 ahead. Needing five goals, Inter coach Tite introduced forward Alecsandro and he struck twice inside the final 20 minutes.

In the closing stages Internacional's Andres D'Alessandro was sent off after colliding with Cristian, and after both coaches were sent to the stands, Corinthians also finished the match with ten men as Elias was dismissed following a strong tackle on Pablo Guinazu.

Since I arrived everyone supported me and we have celebrated two titles: this and the Campeonato Paulista. I want to thank all my team-mates.

"Since I arrived at the club everyone supported me and we have celebrated two titles: this and the Campeonato Paulista we won last March," said Corinthians striker Ronaldo.

"I want to thank all my team-mates. We worked hard to reach this title and now we have to enjoy it."

The former Real Madrid striker indicated his desire to extend his contract with Corinthians to play in the Copa Libertadores.

"I think that it's possible," he added. "We will see in December, now I only want to celebrate."
