Gwangju Sangmu moved three points clear at the top of the K-League thanks to a 1-0 win at Seongnam Ilhwa while challengers Jeonbuk Motors fell to a shock defeat. Ex-Seongnam striker Choi Sung-kuk grabbed the only goal of the game after 54 minutes to continue Gwangju's fine season.

After a quiet first half, Kim Myung-joong went past a Seongnam defender on the edge of the area and sent a low ball into the middle that Choi touched past Jung Sung-ryeong into the net.

With FC Seoul in second not playing, Jeonbuk Motors had a great chance to stay in touch with the leaders, but were defeated 5-2 at home by a resurgent Gangwon FC, who had beaten Seongnam 4-1 the previous weekend.

Oh Won-jung gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead and Kim Yong-hu made it two just before the break.

The opening goal was vital and as Gangwon got it, it was then hard for us to find our rhythm.

Jeonbuk hit back with two goals in the first 18 minutes of the second half thanks to Ha Dae-sung and Chung-hoon, but with 19 minutes remaining Kim got his second and Gangwon's third. Subsequent strikes from Yoon Jun-ha and Lee Chang-hoon sealed a famous and unexpected win.

"We expected a tough game," said Jeonbuk manager Choi Kang-hee after his team's second defeat of the season.

"The opening goal was vital and as Gangwon got it, it was then hard for us to find our rhythm. We just didn't take our chances, but our players did their best until the end."

Incheon United almost crashed to their second successive defeat, but an injury-time equaliser from Doh Hwa-sung earned the fourth-placed team a 1-1 draw and a point at Daejeon Citizen. Ko Chang-hyun got his fifth of the season after 71 minutes to put the hosts ahead.
