Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz has returned to his former post as coach of Malaga on a two-year contract, the Primera Division club have confirmed.

Lopez Muniz had previously been in charge of Malaga from 2006 to 2008 but stepped down after leading the Andalusian club to promotion from the Segunda Division last summer to take over at Racing Santander. The 40-year-old Lopez Muniz spent just one season at Racing, guiding them to a 12th-placed finish before leaving the Cantabrian side last week.

The coaching position at Malaga had been vacant following the decision of Antonio Tapia - who replaced Lopez Muniz last summer - to step down last month despite securing eighth spot in the club's first season back in the top flight. Lopez Muniz will be officially presented in the post later today.
