Hamburg have parted company with sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

Beiersdorfer had reportedly become embroiled in a power struggle with club chairman Bernd Hoffmann and a two-hour meeting between the two men on Tuesday evening failed to clear the air, paving the way for Beiersdorfer's exit.

Hamburg's Horst Becker said: "The board accepts the decision with sadness.

"We wish Dietmar Beiersdorfer all the best for the future and thank him for his work at HSV."

The wrangle between Beiersdorfer and Hoffmann has meant new coach Bruno Labbadia been unable to make any moves in the transfer market since being appointed as the successor to Martin Jol earlier this month.

"We have to concentrate on the new season," continued Becker.

"HSV is going through a turbulent period, so we have to pool our strength to get though it."
