Manchester City have confirmed that the opening game of their three-match summer tour of South Africa will be played in Polokwane.

The 18 July meeting with Orlando Pirates is to take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, which will host four games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.

City are also due to play in Durban and Pretoria during the week-long tour, with a friendly at Barnsley also arranged for 1 August.

In addition, the Blues may visit Glasgow, while opponents for the Thomas Cook Trophy in August have yet to be confirmed.

The sporting complex was named after the late Peter Mokaba, a political activist during apartheid who was born in Polokwane and renowned for being an inspiring leader.
