Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is keen on a move to the Allianz Arena.
The 23-year-old is being tipped as a potential long-term replacement in the Germany team for Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann, and made his international debut in a friendly win over United Arab Emirates this week.
"I believe that Manuel Neuer is interested in coming to FC Bayern," Rummenigge told the club's official website. "Should Schalke give us a signal that they are ready to talk we will start negotiations."
Bayern are on the lookout for a new keeper after Michael Rensing failed to live up to expectations last season. He was dropped towards the end of the campaign.
New Schalke coach Felix Magath insists, though, his No1 is going nowhere.
Magath, who guided Wolfsburg to their first Bundesliga title last term before swapping the VW-Arena for the Arena AufSchalke, said in the Bild newspaper: "Manuel Neuer has a contract with Schalke until 2012. He will play for Schalke next season. There is nothing more to say."
