Defender Jeroen Drost has signed a four-year contract with Vitesse, turning his loan from Heerenveen into a permanent move.

A deal had been in place between the clubs for months, but agreeing personal terms was not straightforward and it appeared the transfer was off.

However, today the 22-year-old put pen to paper.

Technical director Marc van Hintum told the club's official website: "We are happy that we could sign Jeroen Drost for a longer period.

"He has gone through a good development, is still young and can make steps as a player. This season he has shown that he can play as left-back and as a central defender."
