Sudanese club Al-Merreikh have fired German coach Michael Kruger just three months since he completed a domestic league and cup double.
Club officials confirmed the sacking 48 hours after Merreikh drew 1-1 with arch rivals Al-Hilal in an Omdurman derby which is the highlight of the Sudanese football calendar.
Merreikh crave international success and indifferent recent results may have led to the dismissal of the 54-year-old coach who ended the five-year local dominance of Hilal.
They conceded seven goals against Al-Wahdat in Jordan to crash out of the Arab Champions League and scraped past ATRACO of Rwanda in the first round of the CAF Champions League.
