FIFA World Cup™ finals history
Cuba became the first Caribbean nation to feature a FIFA World Cup at France 1938, where, after beating Romania in the first round, they reached the quarter-finals in what was their only tournament appearance to date. They participated in ten of the subsequent 17 qualifying campaigns without success and have not made it to the final phase of regional qualifying since Spain 1982.

After a tough 0-0 draw against Curacao in Willemstad during the first leg of the second round in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, Cuba battled their opponents to a 1-1 draw, with Curacao advancing on away goals.
