Qualification history
Fiji’s FIFA World Cup™ history dates back to 1981, further than any other Pacific Island nation. Fiji claimed their most famous scalp of all with a 1-0 home win over Australia in 1988 and for a while they were by far the most successful of all the Island nations. Four years ago, Fiji reached the final four in Oceania and were the only team to defeat New Zealand in the All Whites' successful run to South Africa 2010.

The current crop
Fiji have not played a senior international match since their memorable 2-0 home victory over New Zealand in 2008, with the result ensuring a third-placed finish in Oceania qualifying. The current Fijian squad will not be lacking in the striking department but contains a host of young talent untested at international level.

The key players
In attack Roy Krishna has proved his worth at international level, hitting a brace against New Zealand to end the last campaign on a high. He has since figured prominently for one of New Zealand’s big two clubs - Waitakere United – appearing at the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. The same tournament last year in Abu Dhabi featured six Fijians in the colours of Papua New Guinea's Hekari United, most notably striker Osea Vakatalesau, who was the leading global goalscorer with a dozen strikes during South Africa 2010 qualifying.
