The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifying campaign has reached the home straight in the Asian Zone. On Tuesday 4 June the antepenultimate matchday takes place in Groups A and B, with Korea Republic taking on Lebanon in a decisive fixture. Victory against the side propping up the Group A table would move the South Koreans a step closer to the global finals.
Chung Monggyu, president of the Korea Republic Football Association, recently visited the Home of FIFA in Zurich and spoke exclusively with FIFA.com about the forthcoming tasks the Taeguk Warriors face en route to Brazil 2014. He emphasised that two triumphs from the remaining games against Lebanon, Uzbekistan and Iran would seal his country’s ticket to the global showdown.
Furthermore, Chung highlighted the challenges his position as head of the Korean FA brings, and gave his thoughts on the development of football in his homeland since their sensational displays at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™.
