Antigua and Barbuda

Qualification history
On the South Africa 2010 qualifying trail, Antigua and Barbuda got their bid off on the right foot by beating first-phase opponents Aruba 4-0 on aggregate. Up next were Cuba in an action-packed and goal-laden tie, though unfortunately for Antigua and Barbuda, most of the goals went the Cubans’ way in a 8-3 aggregate defeat.

The current crop
The past year has been a promising one for Antigua and Barbuda, who have lost just once in seven encounters. Notable among these results was a goalless draw with Cuba, their conquerors in South Africa 2010 qualifying. However, it remains to be seen which opponents will bar their path on the road to Brazil 2014 and whether their recent form will be good enough.

The key players
The goalscoring prowess of Gayson Gregory stands him out from the crowd, with the forward finishing seventh in the scorers’ standings in the qualifying phase of the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup. With nine FIFA World Cup™ qualifying matches under his belt, the 29-year-old is a genuine focal point for Antigua and Barbuda
