Qualification history
One of Asia's lowest placed teams in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, Mongolia entered qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ seeking their first win, having avoided defeat just once from ten matches in three previous qualifying attempts; that being a 2-2 draw against Bangladesh in their first attempt for Korea/Japan 2002. And their wish materialised with a 1-0 opening win over Myanmar, although a 2-0 loss in the return sent them out.
