Qualification history
Swaziland are a dark horse in African qualifying, a side easily overlooked but capable of springing a surprise. In the preliminaries ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, the Sihlangu sent shockwaves around the continent by beating Germany 2006 veterans Togo 2-1 to kick off the campaign. A home draw with Zambia was not enough to keep them going after they lost both road matches, but it was a significant improvement on their past performances. Their biggest claim to fame before that was in USA 94 qualifying when they beat Zaire and drew Cameroon at home. In between, Gabon, Angola and Cape Verde all had the better of the Swazis in home-and-away contests. In qualifying for Brazil 2014, the Swazis were no match for Congo DR, going behind in the 18th minute of the first match en route to an 8-2 aggregate defeat.
