Qualification history
Guinea have long held out hopes of gracing a FIFA World Cup™ final tournament. Disqualified for political reasons while seemingly on course for Korea/Japan 2002, they have failed to come as close to realising their dream since then.

The current crop
The Syli National fully deserve their reputation as a team to treat with caution on the African scene. CAF Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finalists on three consecutive occasions ahead of their under-par 2010 bid, the side quickly put the disappointment of that latter tournament behind them. After making a strong start in 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, they will be anxious to maintain their momentum down the road to Brazil 2014.

The key players
A figurehead in his midfield berth, Kevin Constant personifies the new Guinea and can count on able support from the likes of Dianbobo Balde, Fode Mansare, Ibrahima Yattara and Pascal Feindouno. All have carved out careers in Europe, while Feindouno, the country’s all-time record scorer, still has much to give at this level.
