Qualification history
After becoming a member of football’s governing body in 2005, Comoros entered the qualification process for South Africa 2010 at the first round stage. It was to be a painful experience for the Comorians, as a more experienced Madagascar side put paid to their hopes of progressing any further with a 10-2 victory over two legs. The island nation has been improving quickly however, and the campaign for Brazil 2014 saw them denied a draw against Mozambique in the home match of the two-legged tie by only a second half penalty. A Mozambique goal on the stroke of half-time in the return leg broke the resistance of the Coelecantes and they slumped to a 4-1 loss.
