    With volunteer applications closing last night, people from around the world have responded to the call to be part of history as Africa hosts its first FIFA World Cup.

The volunteers are the public face of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and are vital in ensuring a successful tournament. This is why the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee places such emphasis on the Volunteer Programme, seeking to fill 15,000 positions for the tournament.

Functional Areas

Volunteers in the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ will serve in specific functional areas based on the requirements of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee (OC), FIFA and the official Host Cities.
