ACCREDITATION
The Accreditation Volunteers at the Accreditation Centres near the International Broadcast Centre and 12 stadiums in the 11 Host Cities will issue a personal accreditation card to each participant to provide working rights at corresponding zones within the stadiums, the International Broadcast Centre, training sites and other venues. A large number of people, from installation crews who build engineering facilities for matches all the way to the footballers themselves, participate in preparations and operations of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018™. Accreditation activities begin a month before the first match and significantly influence the positive experience and impression of participants throughout the entire event.

Eligibility requirements:

· Must be at least a second year university/college student at the time of the application.

· Proficiency in the English language (at least at a pre-intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

· Great communication skills, resilience to stress.

· Organisational and teamwork skills.

· Ability to work hard and comfortable with taking on additional responsibilities.

· Prior volunteer experience at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

TICKETING
Ticketing is an important organisational component of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and 2018 FIFA World Cup. In each of the Host Cities, volunteers will support the FIFA Ticketing Project and Local Organising Committee (LOC) staff with various customer-oriented services at the stadiums and ticket centres. It will be an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the services sector to work at the stadiums and to communicate with people from different parts of the world. As such, volunteers of this functional area are expected to work not only during scheduled football matches, but also prior to the events.

Eligibility requirements:

· Must be at least a second year university/college student at the time of the application.

· Fluency in Russian (written and spoken) and good English speaking skills.

· Additional language skills in Spanish, French, German is an added advantage.

· Great communication skills, resilience to stress.

· Organisational and teamwork skills.

· Ability to work hard and comfortable with taking on additional responsibilities.

· Quick learner.

· Previous volunteer experience at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

MEDIA OPERATIONS
Media operations' mission is to provide the best possible working environment to accredited media at the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017 and 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The volunteers of this functional area will be in charge of different aspects and will be split into several groups.

The media “hotline” volunteers will be answering phone inquiries and providing media representatives with information. Additionally, they will collect interview requests, inform the accredited journalists of any technical or organisational changes, and perform other assignments as necessary.

The media operations volunteers will be also helping journalists and photographers at stadium media centres, in the media tribunes, at photo positions, in press conference rooms, and in mixed zones. They will welcome media and provide the necessary operational information, distribute tickets and other forms of passes for media, and assist in working areas.

Eligibility requirements:

• Degree or employment history in journalism, media operations, or communications.

• Advanced-level command of the English language. A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Basic knowledge of the global media market (national and international media), understanding of media needs.

• Strong PC skills (including MS Office).

• Great communication skills, including cross-cultural.

• Interest in and basic knowledge of football.

• Prior experience of volunteer work at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
It is a high priority for the Local Organising Committee to assure quality wireless communication services for the international missions, broadcasters and participants of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup. This goes for the work-related use of wireless communications and regulation of the use of radio stations by event participants. 30 radio-electronic testing and code-marking stations will be organised in the host cities. 14 stationary and 30 mobile radio-monitoring stations will be deployed at all the stadiums, at the International Broadcasting Centre and the Federal Operations Centre.

More than 10,000 TETRA radio stations will be used to provide communication services during the games, for broadcasting, protocol events, and for the purposes of utility and transportation management. Specially assigned volunteers will assist the staff of the wireless communications operator in the distribution and technical support of the radio stations, and assist the staff of the Local Organising Committee and the Federal Radio Frequencies Service in any related tasks.

Eligibility requirements:

• It is a plus if you are at least a second year university/college student when you apply, but a graduate degree (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s) is preferred.

• Strong command of the English language (at least the upper intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Great communication skills, prior experience of cross-cultural communication.

• Organisational and teamwork skills.

HOSPITALITY
Hospitality is the activity of entertaining people in order to promote a cordial business relationship. To cater for corporate hospitality, it is common practice around the world to include banqueting suites capable of catering for hundreds or thousands of people, together with a mixture of of villages, Skyboxes and lounges. Guests in these areas can have refreshments and a meal before the event and then watch the proceedings from within their private entertainment area or from their adjacent seating. The basic concept is to provide the best possible hospitality and viewing experience in order that the hosts may suitably entertain and impress their guests.

Volunteers will be expected to render practical assistance to the hospitality office team, not only on match days but at any other time too. Also within this functional area, volunteers will be working with the guests in hospitality areas: welcome guests and see them off, provide information on request, and supervise guests’ services.

This functional area is available at 12 stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and also at 4 stadiums for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Help in general administrative tasks in preparation for each match.

• Monitor hospitality areas before and after each match, taking pictures and preparing reports.

• Guide spectators to the hospitality areas.

• Provide information to guests on hospitality operational hours, car park locations, directions to merchandise stores and other welcoming duties.

• Distribute “start lists” before each match.

• Monitor operations in the parking areas

CATERING (FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICES)
Just-in-time availability of quality food is a key part of any high-profile event such as the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup or 2018 FIFA World Cup. Suppliers, contractors, partners, sponsors, security personnel, and other staff members should be able to eat without going too far from their work areas. That is why there will be large cafeterias at each stadium, served by catering companies contracted by the Russia 2018 LOC. Volunteers will assist with the sustaining of the smooth operation of those, and will make sure the full menu of food and beverages is available at all times. In addition, volunteers will manage free meal vouchers (for those who are entitled to them), prepare the dining areas and help with other issues if necessary.

Eligibility requirements:

• Willingness and experience working with people, you have to be friendly, patient and resilient to stress.

• Organisational  and teamwork skills.

• Relevant education, prior experience of volunteer work, and command of a foreign language would be advantageous.

LANGUAGE SERVICES
Language services is one of the most important volunteers’ functional areas as the interpreters are irreplaceable at these high profile events. Volunteers are expected to provide language services at stadiums and other facilities of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup (including the “mixed” zones, where media reporters meet the players after the game), to assist in simultaneous translations at the International Broadcasting Centre, and to make urgent written translations if required. Interpreters will be needed everywhere: hotels, airports, team bases, media centres.

Eligibility requirements:

• Advanced-level of English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Korean or any other foreign language. Good command of Russian.

• Prior experience in interpreting/translating.

• Prior experience of cross-cultural communication.

MARKETING OPERATIONS
Marketing Operations is the area responsible for the coordination and implementation of all activities, rights and obligations related to FIFA’s sponsors and licensees. In the context of the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2017 Confederations Cup these key projects are below:

-       Commercial Display Area (Fan Zones)

-       Value-In-Kind (VIK) products

-       Merchandising Programme

-       Youth Programme (Player Escorts, Ball Crew, Flag Carriers)

-       Official Mascot

-       Special Marketing Programmes

-       Marketing Venue Tours

-       Catering Programme for spectators

-       Signage & Decor

Volunteers who are allocated into the Marketing Operations team would be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to the below:

-       Support management activities of FIFA and Local Organising Committee (LOC) Marketing departments

-        Give support to FIFA and LOC marketing teams on the implementation of various marketing activities at the Stadium

-       Assist in control VIK stock-levels and ordering requirements

-       Help to find solutions for problems related to the marketing department

-       Assist in the storage of marketing equipment

-       Monitor the condition of stadium signage and F&B equipment

-       Assist in providing stadium tours to various marketing stakeholders

-       Assist with the training, operation, activation of the FIFA Youth Programme.

Eligibility requirements:

• Previous experience in events is not mandatory but will be an advantage.

MEDICAL SERVICES AND DOPING CONTROL
The mission of the medical service at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup is to assure prompt and immediate access to quality medical assistance for the event participants and guests. About 3,500 qualified medical professionals will be working at the stadiums, hotels, team bases, media centres and fan areas, ready to respond to any medical emergency within minutes.

In order to assist the medical service, medical administrators and chaperones will be recruited from the number of volunteers. The medical administrators will help the medical staff to communicate with the foreign patients and to support the Venue Medical Officer office in organisational and administrative matters. The chaperones will notify and escort the selected players to the doping control station.

Eligibility requirements:

• Native Russian speaker with a strong command of the English language (at least the upper intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Great communication and cross-cultural communication skills.

• Responsible, diligent, self-disciplined, good team-worker.

• Prior experience of volunteer work at high-profile sports or cultural events will be an asset.

• Professional medical background (medical doctor, nurse or hospital attendant) or medical students (3nd year of university/college and up) – is a plus.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
One of the key elements of the transportation programme of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup is just-in-time management of athletes’ and guests’ arrivals and departures. Volunteers will be working at airports, seaports, railway stations, bus terminals, and other transportation facilities in the 11 Host Cities. The first and the last impressions the guests of these two events have will largely depend on the people who will welcome them to the Host Country, Russia, upon arrival, and the people who will see them off at departure.

Eligibility requirements:

• Good command of the English language (at least the intermediate level) and working knowledge of a second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic).

• Prior experience of volunteer work at high-profile sports or cultural events.

• It is an advantage if you are at least a second year student when you apply.

• Good communication and cross-cultural communication skills.

• Teamwork experience.

PROTOCOL
Due to the high importance of the guests attending the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup it is mandatory to provide a high-quality of service. The volunteers may be assigned to help with arrangements at the VIP-areas and VIP-boxes at the stadiums, guest flow and access control management, as well as working at the Welcome desks at official FIFA hotels, helping with tickets, invitations and gifts distribution.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English and knowledge of other languages would be an asset (French, Spanish, German, etc.).

• Senior undergraduate students or recent graduates.

• High level of motivation, active life attitude, readiness to go the extra mile.

• Courtesy and client-oriented approach.

• Commitment to work with a responsible attitude.

• Competence in cross-cultural communication.

• Competence in business etiquette.

• Volunteer experience at major sports or cultural events would be an asset.

TEAM SERVICES
Assistance to the players and referees is a crucial part of the Local Organising Committee’s work. It shapes the image of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup tournaments perceived by the participants. The quality of the players’ training and leisure and, therefore, their performance depend on the volunteers working directly with the teams. Volunteers will assist in preparing the dressing rooms and equipment at stadiums and training sites, assist in the hotel accommodation of the players and referees, transfers to/from airports and stadiums, and handle any issues that may come up.

This functional area is available at 11 Host Cities and other 23 cities in Russia. During the Confederations Cup the referees will be accommodated in St. Petersburg while the officials will be based in Moscow for the World Cup.

Eligibility requirements:

• To be at least a second year university/college student when you apply, but a university degree (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s) is preferred.

• Proficiency in the English language (at least the upper intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Great communication skills, prior experience of cross-cultural communication.

• Organisational and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work hard and to take responsibility.

• Prior volunteer experience at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

ACCOMMODATION
Those volunteers who have chosen to work in this functional will assist the Local Organising Committee, the official FIFA accommodation partner and hotels in serving the referees, teams, and FIFA delegations. Volunteers will help with interpreting, assist in information collection from different Local Organising Committee departments, making sure the appropriate flyers and booklets are available at the hotels. They will also respond to guest inquiries and arrange for the officers responsible to attend to the guests’ needs in person to resolve any issues.

SPECTATOR SERVICES
One of the foremost tasks of the hosts of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup is to welcome the guests in the best traditions of Russian hospitality. All fans should be able to enjoy the excellent football in a safe and comfortable environment. Those volunteers who have chosen to work with the spectators will provide the guests with the information requested. In addition, they will direct spectators to their seats at the stadium, manage flows of visitors and assist them with any other issues if necessary.

• Strong command of the English language (at least the upper intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Great communication skills, polite, keen on helping people.

• Prior experience of volunteer work at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

BROADCASTING SERVICES
Millions of people around the globe will follow the 2018 FIFA World Cup thanks to television and other media platforms. The best-possible football viewing experience is delivered to world screens by the FIFA International TV coverage of the highest quality, as well as by effective work of the world TV & Radio teams who are aiming to provide their home audience with the most complex and comprehensive picture of what happens at the Competitions and around them. It is through their personalised view that all the world will observe the way Russia hosts their first ever 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) in Moscow is one of the key facilities of the upcoming World Cup that will support television broadcasts throughout the tournament. TV shows and features covering the events on and off the pitch will be created at the IBC. The International Broadcast Centre with its restaurants, shops, a bank and other general services is meant to be a city totally dedicated to broadcasters’ needs.

Teaming up with the Local Organising Committee, volunteers will assist the TV and Radio broadcasters at Moscow’s International Broadcasting Centre, at all of the stadiums and the landmark studios in Moscow and other cities. They will help to organise the on-site broadcast operations and, in particular, daily broadcast briefings in the IBC.

Eligibility requirements:

• Ideally, candidates should have a graduate degree, preferably in a related field. However, students also will be considered, if they are at least in their second year of university/college.

• Proficiency in the English language (at least the intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Great communication skills, prior experience of cross-cultural communication.

• Organisational and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work hard and comfortable with taking on additional responsibilities.

TRANSPORTATION
High quality transportation service is one of the main priorities of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee. Volunteers will assist LOC staff in the management of the transportation, arrivals and departures. In addition, they will help to keep track of the vehicles’ availability. Furthermore, volunteers will assist in the arrivals/departures areas at the parking facilities.

Eligibility requirements:

• You must be friendly, dependable, responsible and punctual.

• Resilient to stress, with the ability to work shifts outdoors.

• Proficiency in the English language (at least the intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• To be at least a second year university/college student at the time of the event.

• Good communication skills, prior experience with cross-cultural communication.

• Prior volunteer experience at high-profile sports or cultural events.

• Organisational and teamwork skills.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Strong leadership has to be in place to make sure that volunteers perform their duties well during the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup. A dedicated team will manage volunteer registration, assist in providing services for volunteers, keep volunteers motivated, and assist in their training.

• Prior experience of volunteer management or work for not-for-profit youth organisations.

VENUE MANAGEMENT
The FIFA’s priorities in preparing and staging the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup are a successful organisation of the football matches and superior level of the services provided to the teams and referees. The work of the volunteers in the Venue Management functional area will be dedicated to that goal. They will assist the stadium manager and their team in organising effective and smooth operations on the stadiums.

Venue management has several roles for volunteers to take: the first role is to assist FIFA representatives, helping them with different issues, and organising communication with the stadium manager and their team.

The second role is about assisting stadium managers with their daily administrative tasks: to monitor the progress of their tasks at the stadium, to organise and hold meetings, to keep minutes of meetings and to help with reports and other documents in two languages. The third role will assist venue teams in solving incidents, provide necessary information, coordinate venue operations, monitor the schedule, organise communications and produce the reports on request for the management of the Organising Committee and for FIFA.

Eligibility requirements:

• It is an advantage if you are at least a second year student when you apply, but to apply for the position of PA for the CEO, you have to be at least in your fourth year of university/college. A graduate degree is preferred: Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s.

• Good command of the English language (at least the intermediate level). A second foreign language is an added advantage (German or other, depending on what the job requires).

• Strong PC skills (MS Office).

• Experience working with portable radio units or other telecommunications equipment, experience working in a call centre (for volunteers assigned to site coordinating centre).

• Great communication, organisational and teamwork skills.

• You must be a football fan or be familiar with specifics of the game.

• Prior experience of volunteer work at high-profile sports or cultural events would be an asset.

SUSTAINABILITY
The mission of the sustainability functional area is to make sure that, while the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup are in progress, their impact upon the community, economy and environment is as positive as it can possibly be.

The environmental volunteers will periodically patrol the stadiums, auditing compliance with the applicable environment protection requirements and monitor effective waste management, while accessibility volunteers will make sure that the barrier-free environment provisions for persons with disabilities are honoured at the stadiums.

Volunteers will also take part in the Football for Hope events. During the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup volunteers will be involved in the preparation and staging of the eponymous three-day Forum, bringing together some 200 civil society activists and experts from around the world.

During the FIFA World Cup 2018 volunteers will assist in preparing and staging a two-week festival, which will be attended by civil society activists from 32 countries. A four-day football tournament for youth teams will be held as part of the festival as well.

Requirements for environmental volunteers:

• It is an advantage if you are a student at the time of your application; it is preferred if you have an engineering major or you have completed a graduate degree (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s).

• Quick thinker, great communicator, polite.

• Prior work experience (as volunteer or otherwise) for an environment protection or cultural heritage protection organisation is an advantage.

Requirements for accessibility volunteers:

• It is a plus if, at the time of your application, you are a student majoring in social studies, medicine, psychology, education; a completed graduate degree (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s) is also welcome.

• Strong command of the English language (at least the upper intermediate level).

• Commitment to working in this specific functional area.

• Prior employment history in social services is an advantage.

• Great stamina, great communicator, polite, organised, empathic.

Requirements for Football for Hope volunteers:

• It is a plus if you are a student at the time of your application; a completed graduate degree (Bachelor’s, Specialist’s, or Master’s) is also welcome.

• Strong command of the English language (at least the upper intermediate level). A second foreign language (Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic) is an added advantage.

• Quick thinker, great communicator, polite, organised, attentive, great stamina

CEREMONIES
The opening and closing ceremonies of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2018 FIFA World Cup are the bright and vibrant shows that will define the image of the tournaments and of Russia as the Host Country. Volunteers will assist with navigation around the stadiums and at the rehearsal venues. Volunteers will assist LOC staff in organising the dressing rooms and other relevant areas. They will also act as walk-ons at rehearsals and help with any other issues that may arise.

It is important to mention that the dancers and performers of the show are not recruited through the volunteer programme.
