Some 48 hours after arriving in the Namibian capital of Windhoek, the FIFA World Cup Trophy went on its travels again, heading to the Botswanan capital of Gaborone for the 29th leg of its African tour.

The Namibian President, Hifikepunye Pohamba, unveiled the most valuable piece of silverware in the game at the Presidential Palace on Thursday afternoon, in the presence of several members of his cabinet.

"The Trophy's visit will most definitely contribute to the development of football in our country," he said. "This Tour is helping to strengthen African unity with just a few months to go before South Africa hosts the 2010 FIFA World Cup."

On Friday several thousand local people made their way the assembly hall at the United Nations School in Windhoek to admire the Trophy and have their photographs taken with it.

"It was fantastic to be able to get so close to this beautiful jewel," said one of the visiting fans. "We would like to thank FIFA and Coca-Cola for organising this tour."

The FIFA World Cup Trophy will be back on display on Saturday, this time at the Gaborone International Convention Centre.
