Fiji’s FIFA World Cup™ history dates back to 1981, further than any other Pacific Island nation. Fiji claimed their most famous scalp of all with a 1-0 home win over Australia in 1988 and for a while they were by far the most successful of all the Island nations. Four years ago, Fiji reached the final four in Oceania and were the only team to defeat New Zealand in the All Whites' successful run to South Africa 2010. Qualifying for Brazil 2014 saw Fiji narrowly defeated by New Zealand, before tight draws against Papua New Guinea and Round Two hosts Solomon Islands meant elimination.
