Despite some positive results regionally in south Asia, Bangladesh enter Asia's qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ seeking to brush aside a poor qualification record. They may have won the 2003 SAFF Championship as hosts, but at continental level the Bengal Tigers’ achievements remain modest, failing to progress beyond the group stage in qualifying for the global showpiece since 1986. Their qualifying campaign for Brazil 2014 also ended in disappointing fashion, losing 4-2 on aggregate to Lebanon to crash out after the second round, despite winning the second leg 2-0 at home.
