South Africans are gearing up to ensure that the hard hats that makes the South African football experience so unique are not in short supply come 2010.

South Africa to host a world party
To ensure that the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be another unforgettable, massive football festival for all South Africans, the broadcast for non-commercial public viewings across the host country will be made free of charge.

      How the Bid was won

South Africa came very close to earning the right to host the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. In the end, Germany pipped them to it by 12 votes to 11 and went on to host a wonderful tournament, leaving the South Africans deflated, but nonetheless accepting the agonising defeat with grace.

          Ambassadors
For the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee (OC), the FIFA World Cup™ must be more than a success, hosting the event must have long-term legacy benefits for South Africa, and in fact Africa.
          Official Mascot

So what can we say about him? One thing is for sure, Zakumi will be first on the dancefloor and last off it at the world's biggest party - the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. He wants to entertain as many people as he can.

          Ticket categories and prices
The ticketing proposal was elaborated jointly by FIFA and the South African LOC. The prices reflect FIFA's positioning of the FIFA World Cup™ as a premium international sporting event, yet also take account of the South African market.

Welcome by Irvin Khoza, the chairman of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Organising Committee South Africa.

The Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup shall organise the FIFA World Cup in compliance with the provisions of the regulations applicable to this competition, the List of Requirements and the Organising Association Agreement.
