There are some historic events that leave an indelible mark on the memory. Though the years may pass, the people who witness them never forget what they were doing on that day and at that moment in time. And there are other occasions that are even more special, happenings that people can recall down to the last detail, even if they were not alive at the time or were just a baby.

In the football world, the FIFA World Cup™ has produced many such memorable days, not least Mexico 1986, a tournament that took place 30 years ago and lit up the world with a host of special moments. What about you? Can you remember that unforgettable competition?

From 22 to 29 June, FIFA.com and all its platforms will be winding the clock back 30 years to recall some of the most meaningful moments of the 13th World Cup, which ended with an Argentina side captained by Diego Armando Maradona being crowned world champions at the Estadio Azteca.

It goes without saying that we will be reliving the grand Final between West Germany and Argentina in detail. Before we do so, however, we will be stopping off in the quarter-finals to recall two Maradona goals that have gone down in the history of the game for very different reasons.

Are you ready for a totally fresh look back in time? Would you like to know who possesses one of the most cherished mementos of that day at the Azteca? You will be surprised when we tell you.

Carlos Alberto Bilardo, the coach of that all-conquering Argentina team, puts us in the picture on some of the true and not-exactly-true stories that emerged from the Albiceleste camp in the wake of their triumph. We will also pay a visit to the FIFA World Football Museum and ponder the Mexico 1986 treasures it houses, while also taking an in-depth look at a key moment in one of the most pulsating games in world finals history: the quarter-final between Brazil and France.

We have delved into FIFA’s photo archives too, and compiled some wonderful images and videos you will never have seen before and which are sure to catch your eye. We will be showing them to you at FIFA.com and on our exclusive Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages.

Relive Mexico 1986 and win
As part of our nostalgia trip, you will also have the chance to win some exclusive prizes on the FIFA World Cup Facebook page, which will feature a host of exclusive content from Mexico 1986. Make sure you keep a close eye on the page between 22 and 29 June. We have some very special gifts to give away to the most attentive readers.

So, are you ready to join us on a fascinating journey back in time?
