A 5-4-1 formation and the inspired decision to make James Rodriguez captain ensured solecra amassed the most points in the recent round of McDonald’s World Cup Fantasy. His 154-point haul has earned him an adidas 2014 FIFA World Cup brazuca ball, a signed captain’s armband from a Brazil 2014 match, and a PlayStation®3 copy of the EA SPORTS™ 2014 FIFA World Cup game.

Ten out of his 11 players entered double figures, but the Colombian’s brace in the 2-0 win over Uruguay helped him to 14 points, which was doubled by the Portuguese player’s decision to make him skipper of his side.

Giving solecra a close run were Belgian duo choumes and SeBeKeu who scored 151 and 150 points respectively. choumes has picked up a Spain national team replica jersey and a copy of FIFA 14., while SeBeuKeu earned a copy of FIFA 14

Overall standings
Out of the million players, just ten points separates the top ten in World Cup Fantasy with No1 j.el_campeon on 522 points and No10 ranttis on 512. There are four Brits in the top ten: JimmyRussell, roscola, welliott and ntownsend82. Could they make a late charge?

Most valuable signing: Esseid Belkalem (Algeria)
Once again, Belkalem’s name adorns this section. Despite costing a mere million, the Watford man’s display in Algeria’s 2-1 defeat to Germany was worth a whopping 16 points.

Disappointing purchases: Freddy Guarin (Colombia) and Ramires (Brazil)
Despite costing a hefty 6.5m each – they yielded just a point a piece. Had you spent 13 million on these two players, for ten million less you could have picked up 37 points for the Algerian trio of Belkalem, Rais Mbolhi and Abdelmoumene Djabou.

Highest points-scoring teams:
Argentina (114 points), Colombia (109), Germany (102)
The three qualified for the quarter-finals with over a century of points. The standout performers for each team were Federico Fernandez (15), Per Mertesacker (12) and of course Rodriguez with (14)

Players to watch for in the fifth set of matches

Value could be key in the quarter-finals. 5.5m could buy you the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Mathieu Debuchy and Bryan Ruiz who all scored 13 points or more in the last round.
