Today the internet, plus Facebook, Twitter and YouTube has been awash with the news that there is just 100 days to go before the Opening Match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ when Brazil face Croatia in Sao Paulo. From footballing personalities such as FIFA President Blatter and former World Cup-winner Ronaldo expressing their anticipation, the hashtag #100DaysToGo has also been trending worldwide.

But when the dust settles on this momentous day, what do we have to look forward to between now and Thursday 12 June?

This coming Wednesday (5 March), we will be following some of the friendlies involving some of the 32 qualified teams in our LIVE blog which runs between 18.00 CET and midnight. A week later on Wednesday 12 March at 12.00 CET, approximately 160,000 tickets for the tournament will be available to the public on a first-come-first-served basis in the next sales phase.

Between now and the start of the World Cup, four editions of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be released on Thursday 13 March, Thursday 10 April, Thursday 8 May and Friday 6 June respectively, while the match officials for the tournament will gather in a seminar in Zurich between 24 and 28 March.

The 32 qualified teams must submit their provisional 35-man squad lists to FIFA on or before 13 May and these will be officially announced on Friday 16 May at 12.00 CET. The final 23-man squads must be submitted on 2 June with their release scheduled for Thursday 5 June, a week before the tournament begins.

The FIFA Congress will then take place in Sao Paulo on 10 and 11 June as a prelude to the main event. Again, for the best coverage of this event, make sure to come to FIFA.com – the Official Website of the World Cup – putting you at the heart of the game.
