Landon Donovan is back with the USA's top-flight squad as Jurgen Klinsmann named his 23-man roster for 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifiers in Costa Rica and at home to Mexico.

Donovan returns to Klinsmann's "A" team after 10 matches out having enjoyed a stellar CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign in July.

Also included in the squad are young dual-nationals John Anthony Brooks and Aron Johannsson, both in their first FIFA World Cup qualifying call-ups.

Johansson, a former Icelandic youth international, is committed to the USA after completing a one-time switch.

Hertha Berlin defender Brooks has represented Germany at youth level.

The United States top the table in the six-nation final qualifying group in North and Central America with 13 points. Costa Rica are second on 11 points, and have never lost to the USA at home in a qualifier.

After the match in San Jose on 6 September, USA host Mexico on 10 September in Columbus, Ohio.

"The Costa Rica game in San Jose is the biggest game in 2013 for all of us because we want to win there," said Klinsmann. "We want to qualify as soon as possible for the World Cup in Brazil. We want to get the first ever three points in World Cup qualifying in Costa Rica."

US captain Clint Dempsey is poised to earn his 100th cap.
