The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ has unveiled an exhibit about the tournament at the international Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit taking place in Vladivostok from 2 to 9 September.
The display is located in the summit’s media centre. With the help of an interactive presentation, delegates at the summit will be able to learn more about the vision underpinning Russia 2018 and embark on a virtual journey around the candidate cities, from Kaliningrad to Ekaterinburg. They can also relive the greatest moments in the history of the FIFA World Cup, from the first tournament in Uruguay in 1930 right through to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.
The display features a unique collection of official FIFA World Cup footballs, including the legendary Telstar, Azteca, Tango and others.
According to the findings of an opinion poll carried out in the 13 candidate cities vying to host matches during the tournament, already, six years in advance, 76 per cent of Russians are looking forward to the moment when their country hosts the world’s main footballing event. The overwhelming majority of the public, 92 per cent, are confident that Russia 2018 will have a positive impact on the country’s development.
The final list of host cities for Russia 2018 will be announced in Moscow on 29 September.
