Juan Roman Riquelme was overlooked once again as Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella named the home-based contingent of his squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ qualifier against Ecuador.
The veteran playmaker has impressed in recent weeks with Boca Juniors but there was no place for him as Sabella added five domestic stars to the 18-strong overseas contingent already selected.
Two of Riquelme's team-mates, keeper Agustin Orion and defender Clemente Rodriguez, joined Estudiantes trio Mariano Andujar, Leandro Desabato and Rodrigo Brana in the squad to face Ecuador on 2 June and Brazil a week later in a friendly in the United States.
