The Bureau of the Organising Committee for Brazil 2014 has decided that the no preliminary matches should take place in Iraq for security reasons, which has been extended by FIFA to include preliminary matches for the Olympic Football Tournaments London 2012.

FIFA has urged the Iraqi Football Association to relocate its remaining home matches on a neutral ground in Asia, which may not be in Australia, UAE or Uzbekistan – Iraq’s opponents in the Olympic qualifying.

Iraq have until Monday 3 October to send FIFA the details of the neutral venue, which must comply with the provisions of FIFA’s regulations.

Iraq had previously hosted games at the Franso Hariri Stadium in Arbil, most recently on 2 September when the hosts and 2007 Asian champions lost 2-0 to Jordan.
