Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes said Sunday he believed that Spain were on the brink of showing they are potentially the "best team ever".

Speaking ahead of the two countries' Group H meeting in Durban on Wednesday, Fernandes said the current Spanish vintage, already European champions, look as if they are "the best team of all time -- they play like Barcelona. I have rarely seen such dominance in collective play," said Fernandes from the Swiss base at Vanderbijlpark, south of Johannesburg.

"You can see they all fit together well as a unit on the pitch and it's really great to see -- it will be magnificent to play against them. They are the favourites as they are very strong tactically and technically," added the Swiss, who plays for French side Saint Etienne. "We will have to put them under pressure high up the field," said Fernandes, who nonetheless asserted that "everything's possible" when asked if the Swiss could get a result ahead of further encounters with Chile and Honduras.
