Chile forward Esteban Paredes has vowed to fill Humberto Suazo's big boots should his team-mate miss their FIFA World Cup™ opening fixture on Wednesday.
Marcelo Bielsa's side face Honduras in Group H in Nelspruit and are still sweating over Suazo's fitness, with the striker battling a thigh injury sustained a week ago.
Paredes, very much a fringe player in La Roja's set-up, insists he hopes his team-mate recovers but is more than ready to seize his chance if the call comes.
"I hope Humberto can play," Paredes said. "But if he's not available, then I'll step up or one of my team-mates will. If I'm picked to play, I'll always go out there looking to score."
