Mexico defender Rafael Marquez trained alone in South Africa on Sunday as he continues to recover from a leg injury.

The Barcelona star picked up a muscle strain in his right leg during Mexico's 2-1 friendly victory over world champions Italy in Brussels on Thursday. The Mexicans are confident Marquez will be fit to face tournament hosts South Africa in Friday's opening game in Johannesburg.

Mexican newspaper Clarin reported further good news for manager Javier Aguirre with striker Guillermo Franco's return to full training following a muscle sprain suffered in the 3-1 loss to England at Wembley a week ago.
