French coach Bertrand Marchand has signed a two-year contract with the Tunisian national team, the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) vice-president Anouar Haddad confirmed.

Marchand, who will be assisted by deputy coach Sami Trabelsi, succeeds Tunisian Faouzi Benzarti, will take over later this month with the objective of getting the team to the 2012 African Nations Cup semi-finals.

Marchand, whose current contract with Qatari club Al-Khor has been broken by mutual consent, has an option of an additional year depending on the team's performance.

The 57-year-old is an expert on Tunisian football having coached Club Africain de Tunis and Etoile du Sahel (ESS), with whom he won the African Champions League in 2007.
