Honduras football federation president Rafael Ferrari is confident his team can make a good impression in this month's FIFA World Cup™. The Central Americans are currently training in Austria in preparation for the tournament in South Africa. Reinaldo Rueda's side were drawn in Group H with Spain, Switzerland and Chile.
"I hope the players can bring out their best and qualify for the second round. We will face three very difficult rivals. Chile finished second in the South American section, Spain are one of the favourites to win the World Cup and Switzerland has Ottmar Hitzfeld, one of the best coaches in the world. Hence, nothing will come easy for us," said Ferrari.
Ferrari has high hopes his national team can surpass the results gained at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, where Los Catrachos drew twice and lost one game in the group stages.
"We hope to surpass the achievements of 1982. I have no doubt we have what it takes to do that," he said. Honduras face Azerbaijan in a warm-up game tomorrow.
