Paraguay coach Gerardo Martino believes his team possess a stronger attack than ever before as they gear up for their FIFA World Cup™ opener against defending champions Italy.
The South Americans begin their quest to reach the last 16 for the third time in four tournaments with a clash against Gli Azzurri in Cape Town on Monday, before then facing Slovakia and New Zealand in their final two Group F matches.
Martino claims his side are better equipped going forward than they have ever been in the past. "It's true. Now there is so much variety in the attack of Paraguay, who have never had this amount," he told Fox Sports.
"In the past it has been attacking, but not like now - alongside (Nelson) Haedo [Valdez] and [Roque] Santa Cruz there is Oscar Cardozo and Lucas Barrios, although unfortunately not Salvador Cabanas."
He added: "This is a team that is more complete than Paraguay teams of the past. Hopefully we can make it the best World Cup for Paraguay."
