Lothar Matthaus played in 25 FIFA World Cup™ matches for Germany FR and Germany - more than any other player to have appeared on the world's greatest football stage. He competed in five FIFA World Cups in total spanning between 1982 and 1998 and won the competition in 1990 in Italy.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan star is one of the iconic players of his generation and amassed 150 caps over 20 years before calling time on his playing career in 2000 following a brief stint in the USA. He has since had spells in charge of Salzburg, Partizan Belgrade and the Hungary national team.
