Mexico have scored 39 goals in their 13 appearances at the FIFA World Cup™ finals.

They have appeared at all the finals since 1990, when they were banned for fielding an over-age player in a prior youth tournament.

El Tri have twice progressed through to the quarter-final stages in 1970 and 1986 - as hosts on both occasions - while last time out in Germany, Mexico reached the last 16 before exiting at the hands of Argentina.

Mexico will be coached at South Africa 2010 by Javier Aguirre, who also led them to the 2002 tournament where they lost in the last 16 to their bitter rivals USA.
