Jimmy Greaves scored 44 goals in 57 appearances for England. Greaves missed out on playing in the 1966 FIFA World Cup™ Final, despite recovering from an injury suffered earlier in the tournament, after manager Sir Alf Ramsey instead selected Sir Geoff Hurst.

Hurst went on to score a hat-trick as England won the Final 4-2 against Germany FR. Greaves enjoyed a long career which began at Chelsea in 1957 before producing his best years at Tottenham where he scored a club-record 266 goals, accounting for a sizeable proportion of his career tally of 464 goals in 657 games for club and country.
