The 1970 FIFA World Cup™ finals were played in Mexico and were won by Brazil, who beat Italy 4-1 in the final.

The Brazilian line-up, which featured such star names as Pele, Jairzinho, Rivelino and Tostao, is regarded by many as the greatest team of all-time. Their victory in Mexico helped them become the first country to win the World Cup three times, and as a reward they were allowed to keep the Jules Rimet trophy for good.

Germany defeated Uruguay in the Match for Third Place.
