Stuart Pearce, the current England U-21 boss and a member of Fabio Capello's senior staff, won 78 caps for his country.

The fiercely patriotic Pearce appeared in two FIFA World Cups™, famously breaking down in tears after missing a penalty in the 1990 semi-final shoot-out against West Germany, and two UEFA European Championships.

He missed out on the 1998 FIFA World Cup, but stretched his international career further as he played two European qualifiers at the age of 36 before retiring from the international game in 1999.
