Liverpool legend John Barnes earned 79 caps for England during an illustrious career.

Born in Jamaica in 1963, Barnes was handed his England debut by Sir Bobby Robson in 1983 as a second-half substitute against Northern Ireland. The following year he scored a brilliant individual goal in a friendly against Brazil at the Maracana.

He came on as a substitute in the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ quarter-final, almost inspiring a brave comeback against Argentina, and helped England reach the semi-finals four years later in Italy. He won his last cap in a goalless draw against Colombia at Wembley in 1995 - a match most remembered for Rene Higuita's 'scorpion kick'.
