Celtic defender Glenn Loovens has been handed his first call-up by the Netherlands for their upcoming fixtures against Japan and Scotland.

Coach Bert van Marwijk has also included Eljero Elia and the Hamburg striker could make his debut in the friendly against Japan, which will be staged in Enschede on 5 September.

The Dutch will then travel to Scotland four days later for their final 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier, with the Oranje already assured of top spot in Group 9 and a place in South Africa next summer.
